It all started when...

Since the inception of Kansas Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (KFAPA) in 2007, a dedicated group of volunteers has empowered, educated, and advocated for foster, adoptive and kinship parents across the state of Kansas.

The child welfare system is fluid and constantly changing.  Foster, adoptive, and kinship families need to be supported and kept up-to-date to be able to continue caring for the children placed in their homes.  They need to be advocated for and empowered by a group that has experience - and an opportunity to help - wherever and whenever necessary.

KFAPA supports the recruitment and retention of foster, adoptive, and kinship parents by engaging in pre-MAPP informational forums, family welfare summits and support groups.  We also hosted our first ever conference for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents in June 2017.
